What is the purpose of these systems?
The alert system in Hillsborough was created to keep people safe and to rally community members who may choose to respond in various ways. The UNC Anti-Racist Alert system is unrelated and has its own purpose.
Are these systems affiliated with government agencies?
These systems are not affiliated with any law enforcement or government agency. They are run by community volunteers.
What happens when I become a Hillsborough Subscriber?
Once you opt in, you will receive a brief text message alerting you to the presence of hate group activity in Hillsborough as soon as system volunteers can confirm the sighting.
What if I see flaggers or a hate group in Hillsborough?
You can send a text to any of the numbers, even if you are not a Subscriber, if you see suspected hate group activity (e.g., people holding confederate flags on a street corner). We will do our best to verify any reports before sending out alerts to all of our Subscribers in Hillsborough.
